MT Series: Who Owns My Language Data
25 February 2020, 5 pm CET
The digital age is giving copyright laws and data ownership laws a hard time. In localization, the use of new technologies like machine translation or text/data processing tools creates uncertainties about ‘data ownership’ or control, (re)usability and access to/transfer of data, and liability arising from the use of data. In this live webinar, we will cover those questions and present some real-life scenarios:
- Can Anyone Own Language (Data)? (TAUS)
- The approach to data ownership in web-scale crawling project such as Paracrawl or in WMT tasks, by Philipp Koehn (John Hopkins University, University of Edinburgh)
